Bet in the Dark

0 minutes
To bet in the dark means to announce a bet on the next betting round even before the next street has been dealt.
The player who’s “betting in the dark” must be the first to act on the coming round, otherwise they’re acting out of turn and their bet doesn’t stand.
The bets that the players make are binding for the round when the dealer distributes the cards, regardless of how weak or strong the player’s cards are.
A good example of betting in the dark in Texas Hold’em poker is making a bet before the flop, as the player doing so is entirely in the dark of what will happen on future streets.
