New WSOP Venue Rebrands to the Horseshoe Las Vegas

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is moving to a new venue for the 2022 edition. The series has been held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino since 2005.
However, it was announced last year that the WSOP was coming to the Las Vegas Strip for the first time, being hosted by Bally’s Las Vegas.
Caesars Entertainment has now announced that it is rebranding Bally’s Las Vegas to the Horseshoe Las Vegas.
This sees the iconic Horseshoe brand coming back to Las Vegas where it originally started. It is an appropriate name for the new host property for the WSOP.
This is because the very first WSOP took place in 1970 at the Binion’s Horseshoe casino in Las Vegas, having been started by the famous gambler Benny Binion who also created the Horseshoe brand.
Internal and External Changes on the Way
As part of the rebranding process, there will be renovation work completed on both the outside and inside of this mid-Strip property. This includes redesigning the casino floor and the introduction of horseshoe symbols around the property.
Caesars is investing millions of dollars into this work. These renovations will take some time, but they will not impact the WSOP.

The series is set to begin on May 31 and last until July 19. Well-known actor Vince Vaughn is set to be the Master of Ceremonies for the 2022 WSOP.
Horseshoe Las Vegas SVP and general manager Jason Gregorec is excited about what the future holds for this property.
He believes that it is fitting to bring the Horseshoe brand back to the city:
Since 1951, Horseshoe Casinos have been home to the best odds, highest limits, and biggest jackpots.
The Horseshoe brand has been part of Caesars’ group of casinos for a number of years. There are Horseshoe-branded casinos dotted across the United States.
This includes properties in Louisiana, Iowa, Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio, and Maryland. Some of these properties play host to WSOP events during the course of the regular circuit of events.
WSOP Getting Back to Normal
One of the key reasons for the moving of the WSOP away from the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino is due to Caesars Entertainment selling the property in 2019.
New York investor and Dreamscape owner Eric Birnbaum bought this property for $516 million. Plans to significantly renovate the property will begin this year.
Caesars leased back the property for a couple of years, allowing it to still host the WSOP there in 2020 and 2021. Despite this lease agreement being in place until 2023, the decision was made to move the WSOP main event for the 2022 renewal.
Players will be looking forward to the WSOP returning to its normal schedule this year. In 2020, the summer series had to be canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and was held entirely online. In 2021, the WSOP took place during the fall.
This year, the World Series of Poker, including the iconic Texas Hold’em Main Event, will return to the usual summer schedule.
