PokerStars surprised live poker tournament players by announcing the return of the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino European Poker Tour. The EPT will be held in the Monte-Carlo Casino from April 28 until May 7.

The Monte-Carlo Casino has been the venue to host the EPT Grand Final 11 times now and some of the biggest-ever main event prizes were won there.

Some of the winners over the last few years were Gavin Griffin, who won €1,825,010, Glen Chorny who won €2,020,000, and Pieter de Korver, banking €2,300,000 in 2009.

Apart from the EPT main event, there will also be side events worth noting. One of them is the Super High Roller €100,000 buy-in EPT, which runs from the 1st of May until the 3rd of May. In 2019 Sergio Audio took home a whopping €1,589,190 winning the event.

The EPT Main event runs from May 2-7 and has a more affordable buy-in, set at €5,300, although satellites are being held on PokerStars from just €1.10.

Severin Rasset, Managing Director and Commercial Officer at Pokerstars commented the following:

EPT Monte-Carlo is a favorite for many, and we’re pleased we can now share details for the event along with the exciting announcement that regional tours are back. We understand that these are uncertain times for everyone.

The health and safety of our players and staff are paramount to our plans and we’ll continue to communicate openly with players as each event approaches. Live events have always been a big part of PokerStars, and we can’t wait to get back to the live felt and hope to see many of our players at events soon!

PokerStars Postpones EPT Sochi in Russia

Although the announcement of the EPT to be held in Monte Carlo delights many live poker tournament players, the EPT Sochi in Russia will be postponed.

Due to the war with Ukraine, the tournament in Russia will not be played next month but is now scheduled for October.

After the Champions League final in Russia was previously moved by UEFA and the Russian Grand Prix was also canceled, it has now been announced that the EPT Sochi will also not take place.

Website CardsChat.com was the first to announce that the tournament will be canceled after contacting a representative from PokerStars.

The PokerStars Blog, PokerStars’ Twitter account, and EPT Live initially made no mention of the cancellation or postponement of the EPT Sochi. In the meantime, the tournament schedule for the EPT Sochi has also been adjusted on the official website.

EPT Sochi postponed

The tournament, which is popular with Russians, was scheduled for March 18 to 27. The EPTLive website now indicates that the tournament is scheduled for October 1 to 10, 2022.

The postponement of the EPT Sochi to October is the result of the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukraine.

The EPT Sochi is organized every year by PokerStars. The tournament is especially popular with Russian players and attracts few players from the rest of the world, unlike other EPT tournaments. Hosting the EPT in Sochi is a requirement for PokerStars to maintain its license in Russia.
